Little Ballerina

On the 12th of January, Maysie had her 1st dance recital.  My blog still for some reason won't let me upload any pictures which totally saddens me and I still have no idea how to upload our video's to the computer so you'll have to do without I guess, or just look at some of them off my facebook page.
:(   I had my first experience dealing with all the stage makeup.  For those of you who know me, I don't wear makeup very often or hardly any makeup if I do.  Well she had to have full on stage makeup and her teachers sent out a list of everything she needed on.  There was foundation, dark eye shadow (either grey, or dark brown), eye liner on the top and bottom (yeah, I have only worn this like 3 times in my life when some one else did my makeup for me), thick mascara, lip liner, lipstick (either hot pink or red) and blush.  Yeah, we made a trip to the dollar store for this stuff which thankfully they had basically everything on the list although we compromised and used some weird eye shadow stuff for blush - hey it was pink, it worked!  :)  The eye liner got me.  Seriously, no matter how hard you try, it just looks really funny on a 4 year old and it just looks wrong.  But after 3 or 4 tries we got it to a somewhat passing level and said heck with it. Thankfully my sister Diana came over early and helped me since I really had no idea what I was doing. A huge thank you to her!  :)  Maysie looked adorable in her little pink outfit (probably the cutest costumes there) and rocked the stage when it was time for her class to go.  They danced to the song "Walking On Sunshine" which of course makes you feel happy and want to dance anyways.   She was a little nervous at first,  which who wouldn't be when you have a full auditorium, and looked down for the first little bit, but by the end she found her groove.  She really knew her routine.  Graceful, probably not, but what do you really expect with a bunch of 3 and 4 year old's.  :)

Camden was hilarious.  At the beginning of every number, he would would look up and see if it was Maysie's class.  When he realized it wasn't, he would get mad and refuse to watch the routine.  Of course Maysie's routine was one of the very last ones. When it was her turn on stage, he was excited and cheered for her!  I am so glad he wants to support his sister though.  :)

Rob was in charge of the camcorder and well, lets just say, your probably glad you didn't have to watch it because if you get motion sickness easily...  well you would be sick to your stomach.  As her class was walking on the stage, he was recording some other kid the whole time and it wasn't until the dance started before he realized it was the wrong girl.  :)  Ha Ha.  Seriously so funny.  Then he had Camden on his lap and there were multiple times we were looking way above Maysie's head or just the feet and the corner of the stage.  Yeah, I am glad that I ordered the professional copy that the studio was making.  No really, Rob did an ok job, and I am glad he tries hard to preserve our families milestones even if we are not looking at the intended target.  Ha Ha.  I love that man.

We were lucky and had a lot of family come and support Maysie and it never ceases to amaze me how Rob's single brothers willing go to a dance recital and support their nieces.  They rock!  Rob's mom also went along with my sister. There are many other family members who I know would have loved to be there, but because of certain circumstances and the craptacular weather we experienced right then, they were unable to attend.  I totally understand and I know it isn't always possible and I know they were thinking of us.   I am grateful that we live close to some family who love and support our little family.  We are so blessed.

When we got home, we gave Maysie some flowers and some M&M's which stood for Magnificent Maysie!  Maysie is such a girl and loved her flowers mainly because of the colors: Pink, Purple, and Blue!  She often goes to the kitchen table to smell them.  I actually think that this was the 1st time she has ever gotten flowers before.  But she did an outstanding job and she deserved something special to know how proud we are of her and her accomplishments.
